Crank Brothers have taken the humble headset back to the drawing board and come up with the ultimate in lightweight, minimalist headsets. The Crank Brothers Iodine SL Directset omits the standard headset cup and replaces it with flanges incorporated directly onto the bearing itself. This results in a lighter, lower stack height headset perfect for todays longer travel all mountain bikes
The Iodine SL Directset's outer races are formed from lustrous 440c stainless steel for a finish that will keep looking great for years. But its beauty is not skin deep, it also features custom made 28 ball sealed retainer bearings on top and 34 ball max bearings on the bottom. This combination saves weight where you can (the top race takes less punishment), but makes it tough where you need it, with a full complement of bearings for the bottom race. This attention to detail means Crank Brothers can offer a great 5 year warranty on the bearings.
