About me:

I’ve been riding bikes for about 11 years now and its been a big learning curve. I ride, or have ridden almost every discipline of mountain bikes and I believe this has helped my riding get to where it is today. I learnt a lot from things like trials, which then naturally transferred into my other types of riding. I found cross-country very good to get over the mental hurdle that some things in tracks could throw at you like a daunting steep climb. When I’m not racing I train quite hard riding both local BMX tracks and local downhill spots and relax in late summer evenings by riding skateparks and dirtjumps.

In 2005 I started racing 4x in the youth category and managed third place overall! 2006 saw my first year as a junior, I was terrified but I held my own and managed 1st overall for the series! Then in 2007 illness got the best of me but I still managed 2nd place overall just losing a few points to the top spot.

2008 has seen a huge jump for me, I’ve made the big move to elite after much deliberation over the winter and I feel it was a good move as it has helped me progress as a rider and most importantly as a person. Early this year I applied to the British Cycling Federation to ride for the British team at World Cups throughout Europe, as I wanted to grade myself in the world before jumping on planes to America and Australia to race world cups and potentially not qualify. I really enjoy travelling and seeing new places, riding new tracks and meeting new people. Riding bikes gives me an opportunity to do all these things, and all with a combined passion. I am a very committed person and to be able to ride when and where I do, I also manage a full time job as a shop assistant in-between riding my bike.

Goals and Aspirations:

My recent experience competing in World Cups has given me the confidence to focus on how to develop my role in the sport.  My key focus is on enhancing my ability in the disciplines I enjoy most - 4x and DH.  In order to achieve this, I would like to become part of a major team, which can provide race support, particularly at World Cups.  This would also give me the opportunity to develop my skills as I am a keen learner and would benefit from riding alongside similarly-minded team-mates.

Overall, I consider that I am at the early stages of a successful career in competitive mountain biking and am seeking the right opportunities to facilitate this.
