SQ-lab insoles - Mountain Biking UK review May 2008
These clever insoles are sized to the arch of your foot. The theory is that supporting the arch of the fool increases power transfer and comfort. As you push down on the pedals you are stretching the tendon in the arch of your foot which can lead to foot pain - supporting the arch alleviates this problem.
Once the sizing is achieved, your weight is correctly supported by the pelvis bone, which avoids pressure in more sensitive areas. In practice, the saddle does take a little getting used to.
We had this exact problem with a pair of stiff soled SPD shoes, but once we inserted these the hard plastic support effectively banished the problem completely. Its too difficult to say if power transfer was up, but we were happy enough with just losing the pain. Ian
MBUK VERDICT PERFORMANCE 9/10 VALUE 6/10 If you get foot pain when riding, these could end the misery - at a cost though £25 www.2pure.co.uk A synopsis of the original review may be viewed at Bike Radar.
